Royal
Lakes Estates Water Treatment Plant
The
Royal
lakes Estates Water Plant was designed to serve a 350
home, large lot subdivision in Fort Bend County,
Texas. Most lots in the subdivision are 3/4 acre
in size and have larger than usual lawn areas,
resulting in high water use rates in hot, dry
months. Based on experience with large lot
subdivisions, WaterEngineers designed the Royal Lakes
Estates Water Plant with the capacity of providing
average daily flows of twice the TNRCC design rate per
connection.
The
first phase of the plant was designed to handle 50
connections and included a 6-inch, 200 gpm well and a
5,000 gallon hydropneumatic tank. During the
second phase a 65,000 gallon ground storage tank and
two 300 gpm booster pumps were added to increase
capacity to serve 250 connections.
In
the future, a second 200 gpm well, another 65,000
gallon ground storage tank, two more 300 gpm booster
pumps, a second 5,000 gallon hydropneumatic tank and a
diesel powered auxiliary generator will be added.
The
Royal Lakes Estates Water Plant is owned by Royal
Valley Utilities, Inc., an investor owned utility that
owns and operates water and sewer facilities serving
residential subdivisions in the Houston area.
